We took a trip to Chicago today to visit the fish. Atticus has been missing the zoo now that it's closed for the season and we were hoping this might cheer him up. In addition, Norah has grown quite fond of "Baby Abooga" and requests that we sing and read her Baby Beluga book most nights. Sadly for us, the beluga whales were on maternity leave today because one of them gave birth to a new baby last week. The kids were entranced anyway and loved the aquarium.
Highlights of the trip included all of the trains going into the city, the dolphins and penguins, the tide pool that had real waves, and the play area where kids could pretend to be penguins. By the time we got to the stingray aquarium that you can walk over, the kids were ready to lie down and observe carefully. We started to fear that Atticus might fall asleep right there since they had missed their nap and had had an exciting day. As predicted, by the time we exited the parking garage there were snores coming from the back seat.
